TRADITIONAL FIELD HUNTS for 2012 Hunting season!
You have two choices if you are planning a pheasant hunt. You can get a group of hunters together and drive all the way to western Kansas, South Dakota, Iowa, or other hunting states. You all line up in a row and start walking across miles of grain fields (if some farmer will let you hunt) pushing the running pheasants to the end. When the bird gets up (if you see any), everyone shoots (you never know if you got one) and the hunt is over. Or you can drive a lot less to Show Me Birds Hunting Resort, where your farms are waiting for you. Your guide releases several highly trained pointing dogs, you enjoy watching these dogs as much as shooting birds, and yes you will see plenty of birds! You can take turns shooting with your friends and enjoying a day of pheasant hunting the way it should be! Plus most states have a 3 or 4 bird limit; not here! No bag limit at our resort! In today's economy hunters need to do the math before getting in the truck and leaving for a hunt. Let's use Dallas,Tx. to central South Dakota as an example. That is an 1800 mile trip, 28 hrs of driving, fuel costs about $240.00, 4-5 nights at a motel $350.00, license $110.00, meals about $150.00, trespass fees to get on the good farms about $200.00 and now figure about 5 days off work, maybe more, for hunting and travel time. Compare that to our resort from Dallas Tx. We have 660 miles trip, 11 hrs of driving, fuel costs about $85.00, one night at our motel $70.00 for two (comes with breakfast & free bar), license $17.50, meals are one dinner $15.00, one Pm package A hunt and one Am package A hunt for the next morning, and now plan on a one overnight get-a-away; so little time off work. The South Dakota limit is 3 birds a day, here there is no limit and package A comes with 4 birds a hunt. The no bag limit comes from shooting birds that the hunters before you missed. About 60% of the groups get free extra shooting at these bonus birds. Add it all up and see that we are HALF PRICE but more birds. Very little time away from work and family. Prices will vary depending on where you live; but I think you get the idea. Hard choice it is not! Oh, don't forget the dog show here not the walk and block " military charge" style of hunts! We hunt with high quality pointing dogs that were born here and hunt all the time with a huge bird population. Not the norm, but what a show it is. You will never go back to the walk and block after this trip. You can make two or three trips here per season for the same time and costs as the other way. ALL HUNT PACKAGES ARE LISTED BELOW! We offer from 4 birds up to 16 birds per hunter packages! We hunt 7 days a week starting Oct. 1st till the third week of March. We can take 8 groups a day for field hunts, then on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday we also do the popular European shoots. Check out the European page of this web site, you must come and do this! Let's talk per raised birds for a second. I know it is an issue. That is why i grow my own birds. Could not find a bird that was real, so I made it. Spare no expense doing it too. Have been working on this bird for 20 years! So you only hunt WILD birds? Sure you do, we have shipped countless chicks to South Dakota and everywhere else that offers pheasant hunting. One friend of mine sells over 4 million pheasant chicks a year. Guess where he ships them. You very well could have already shot my bird and not known it. A good friend of mine hauls 35,000 mature birds to SD each fall. Countless other producers do the same. Hunting operations all over the US tell you "only wild birds here boys"! Sure they do, it is a sales pitch to do so. They deliver at night so hunters don't see the trucks. They produce the birds without blinders so you can't see the pin hole in the beak! I could go on and on. But you get the idea. Ask this question "can pheasants fly over a fence"? One farmer has wild birds the other does not. Now comes the breeding season in April and May and guess what. As one fish and game offical told me "I do not believe that there is any TRUE WILD bird genetics in America anymore"! You can trap and hold a deer with a fence, then control genetics ==but not a bird. BUT NOT ALL PEN RAISED BIRDS ARE THE SAME. Just like, not all cars are the same. Just look at what man has done in deer production with controlled genetics and outstanding nutrition. Whitetails look like red stags. We are doing the same with Pheasants. Not just trying to fly as fast as a "wild bird" but faster! We have done it! Try our birds and we will prove it!

Few resorts can offer a no bag limit policy. They all charge extra fees if you harvest more birds than in your package. NOT AT OUR RESORT! These are birds that are left behind by the hunters before you. Of course we cannot guarantee extra birds will be there. It is based on the shooting skills of the hunters before you, but about 60% of the groups get extra shooting, so it is very common and happens each day.

NEW NATIVE BIRD FORECAST for 2011 hunting season! An extremely harsh winter across the heart of the pheasant range in the Midwest -- the last in a string of bad winters in some states -- plus a wet spring in the Dakotas and Minnesota, and the continued loss of Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) acres, all combine to mean tougher prospects for hunters in all the top states. SOUTH DAKOTA - Unfortunately, the state suffered its harshest winter since 1996-97, combined with an unusually wet spring and a loss of 400,000 CRP acres since 2007. As a result, it was no surprise that this year's brood survey showed a 46 percent decline from last year, and was 41 percent below the 10-year average. KANSAS - Mother Nature hasn't been kind to Kansas either. While the issue farther north has been too much rain, it's been the opposite in Kansas: a drought in the western part of the state. Although the breeding population there is extremely strong, reproduction was probably poor. The birds depend upon a good wheat crop, and the drought left hens short of necessary nesting cover. Because of the drought, prospects in the southwest and south-central look poor this year NORTH DAKOTA - Last year’s pheasant harvest in North Dakota was at 553,000, down about 100,000 from 2009. North Dakota has seen the most severe CRP losses in the region (over a million acres from peak enrollment), and the state also experienced a hard winter followed by a very wet spring and record-setting floods in some areas. Statewide, crowing counts this spring were down 14 percent NEBRASKA - Pheasant hunters here harvested 252,000 roosters last year, which was down just slightly from 2009 ;this year the state is down another 20%. IOWA’S 2010 harvest of just 238,000 roosters set yet another record low, for the fourth straight year. When you consider that Iowa topped the million mark as recently as 2003, and was the top pheasant state in the nation more years than not during the '90s, it demonstrates just how quickly a state can go from boom to bust, when bad weather combines with habitat losses. And this year's news is even worse, with the August roadside counts down 40 percent statewide. Even the northwest region, which had retained decent bird numbers, dropped significantly. The Iowa pheasant population has fallen to an all-time low with a statewide average of seven birds counted for each 30-mile route driven after the fifth winter in a row with above normal snowfall, followed by a wet nesting season. MINNESOTA – is down a huge 64% from last year! Much of the pheasant range suffered the unfortunate harsh winter/wet spring combination. The harvest had increased to over half a million birds annually from 2005-08, but fell to 400,000 in 2009, and to 360,000 last year. The state also lost 120,000 acres of CRP this year. And from next year on, those losses will increase to about 200,000 acres per year. SAD NEWS, But at this resort the birds are ready, gundogs are ready, farms are ready, staff is ready, for a GREAT SEASON! We are living in changing times my friends. Tell your hunting buddies to hunt where the birds are! We are waiting for your call and have over 60,000 birds ready to excited you!
